Thane-Mulund Railway Station faces hurdles in land transfer – Details Inside

The progress on the proposed railway station between Thane and Mulund is facing significant delays as the Maharashtra government’s health department has not yet handed over a crucial four-acre land parcel to the Indian Railways, Shiv Sena (UBT) MP from Thane, Rajan Vichare, claimed on Saturday. The unresolved land transfer issue becomes a major roadblock in the timely completion of the railway station project.Obstacles Beyond Land Transfer

On-Site Inspection Highlights

MP Rajan Vichare conducted an inspection of facilities at Thane railway station, providing insights into the ongoing projects. According to an official release, the work completion status for three approach roads, the station deck, parking facilities, and the compound wall for the proposed Thane-Mulund railway station stands at 30 percent. The inspection sheds light on the progress achieved amidst the challenges.

Legal Clearance for Land Transfer

Earlier this year, the Bombay High Court removed a stay on the transfer of part of Thane Mental Hospital’s land for the railway station construction. The court’s decision allowed the transfer of more than 14 acres of the hospital’s land, out of its total 72 acres, for the new railway station. This legal clearance overcame a significant hurdle, paving the way for the project’s progression.
