BITS Pilani launches The School of Interdisciplinary Research and Entrepreneurship

BITS Pilani has launched The School of Interdisciplinary Research and Entrepreneurship (SIRE). It is an online space that BITS Pilani aims to advance research and innovation, according to an official announcement.
As per the institute, SIRE’s main goal is to create an environment where people from diversified academic areas work together to solve difficult problems through teamwork and a mix of different kinds of research.
“As we welcome students to join our newly launched School of Interdisciplinary Research and Entrepreneurship (SIRE), we’re taking a big step into a future filled with new ideas and collaborative initiatives at BITS Pilani. SIRE shows how much we want to learn new things, work together on different topics, and support creative people who will shape the future of research and starting businesses,” Sanket Goel, dean, Research and Innovation (Institute-wide), BITS PilaniHyderabad, said.
As per the institute, currently, BITS Pilani has a pool of around 75 PhD scholars, with plans for the recruiting additional 30 Ph.D. scholars by March 2024 under PhD DRIVE scheme. In its initial phase, SIRE targets to onboard close to a hundred scholars into its cohort.

SIRE represents an exciting frontier in fostering partnership leading to research and entrepreneurship in multi-disciplinary areas, which is the key in the futuristic R&D landscape. I am eager to work with the BITS community to drive transformative research initiatives and entrepreneurial endeavours,” Prof. Hitesh Datt Mathur, said.
